WORKHUBS CONFERENCE JUNE 29 2010
Venue: BT Centre, 81 Newgate Street, London EC1A 7AJ
Time: 9.30 to 4.30
Delegate bookings: Information to follow soon
The first national Workhubs conference will be kindly hosted by BT at their group headquarters' superb business showcase conference facility. We have previously held conferences on live/work here (see photos on this page).
The
event will see the launch of our national
report for the government on workhubs and their role in supporting
home based businesses in a low economy. This report is being supported
by the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Homes and
Communities Agency, the Commission for Rural Communities and two regional
development agencies: Advantage West Midlands and SEEDA.
It will feature leading policy makers, the UK's top workhub managers and hub users themselves.

Who should attend?
The event will be important for both economic development and business support agencies and for those concerned with spatial planning for a low carbon built environment. It will be ideal for:
- business link managers
- local authority economic development managers
- regeneration agency managers
- local authority planners leading on low carbon communities
- eco-towns and similar initiatives
- creative cluster specialists
- enterprise agencies
- housing associations seeking to promote home based business
- trade bodies representing the self-employed and freelance professionals
We have visited over 20 workhubs in compiling our report and will use the conference to bring to life the issues the report raises.

The event will also see the beginning of what we hope will become a national network of workhubs tasked with:
- helping home based businesses find and use local workhubs
spreading good practice ideas from hub to hub - assisting local authorities, housing associations and developers create vibrant workhubs
- representing workhubs as a single sector, advising government and national/regional agencies.
